Elise and her family transferred from Massachusetts to California. She is not sure what to expect with the life they have to face. During her first day at her new high school, she's blown away by her school mate's standard in life. Everyone is almost wearing designer clothes, have expensive cars and they are beautiful. Especially Derek, a popular handsome guy whose parents are both famous Hollywood actors. She knows she likes him but couldn't figure him out.
I was so surprised to learn that Epic Fail is a retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I haven't read the latter but I surely enjoyed this novel. It is such a light read that fits to what I currently need. It is always nice to shift from paranormal or dystopia to chick lit or contemporary from time to time because I honestly find it relaxing. And I am so happy I was able to finish this one in one sitting.
I don't agree much with some of the characters like Derek's indifference, Elise's misjudgements, Layla's annoying behavior or Chelsea's insecurities. But LaZebnik made them work together and secured such delightful spinoff of the novel. And I love Chase to bits.
Epic Fail is a fun novel that one could get easily hooked to. It is light and easy read that surely brought smile to my lips and healed my reading/blogging slump at the moment.
