#MIBF2017 SHOPPING EXPERIENCE!

This is my fourth time attending the Manila International Book Fair and as expected, it was tiring BUT SO MUCH FUN! This year I only get to roam the ground floor with Gavin. I stayed for about 2 hours but damn son, my mortal body could no longer endure it. I was only planning to get TWO books but who am I kidding, right? Brought home 6 books and I could die happy.

I just went directly to FullyBooked's booth because the number one book I was hoping to get was there and I crossed all crossables that it's still there! GLAD TO REPORT I BAGGED THE LAST (HB) PIECE OF MORE HAPPY THAN NOT! WOOOOOOT!! When Dimple Me Rishi was the second book I was hoping to buy but according to the lovely staff, they didn't get any HBs yet and they aren't sure when they would get stocks. So I think I'll just order from Book Depo. Then Crooked Kingdom was just on the other shelf so I also got a copy. QUEEN LB YO! Anyway, I went then to National Bookstore (of course, I would) and was seriously contemplating about buying books for Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian's signing but I realized I had to buy like 6 books for the signing so meeeh, I didn't push through with it. Instead, I grabbed 3 Anvil Books and Strange the Dreamer!

BOUGHT:
ANVIL BOOTH
- Kids These Days (Stories from Luna East Arts Academy Vol. 1) by various Filipino authors
- The Year We Became Invincible by Mae Coyiuto
- Simply Joei by Clare Elisabeth Marquez

NATIONAL BOOKSTORE:
- Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1) by Laini Taylor

FULLYBOOKED:
- Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2) by Leigh Bardugo
- More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera (!!!!!!!!)

These are the books I sacrificed my allowance for two weeks for but hell, these are worth it! AND THE HAPPINESS I FEEL WHENEVER I GET NEW BOOKS IS BLOODYDAMN (I just referenced Red Rising!) PRICELESS! WOULDN'T EXCHANGE IT FOR ANYTHING ELSE! I've titled this "Shipping Experience" because I think this is the first time IN A WHILE that I have spent this much on books? HAHA OMGGGGG WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE

Here is my live-tweet thread: MIBF2017

How many books did you get?

THE 36TH MANILA INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR 2015.

The first time I attended Manila International Book Fair was last 2012 and it was quite overwhelming, well, for a first timer. I was sick that day and so as today (coincidence?). The weather couldn't get bipolar hard enough and that killed my immune system. I went to the first AsiaPop Comicon Manila 2015 event prior here and I was seriously beat. Thankfully it was just a few minutes away for MIBF's location because if not, I would have died from walking just to get there.

Welcome to The 36th Manila International Book Fair!

I was welcomed by a lot of people and that part was amazing and dizzying at the same time. I didn't go around much because I was terribly exhausted and my head was throbbing so bad. So I went to National Bookstore's booth then it took me 15 minutes searching for what I came there for. You can tell that this event was successful because of the number of attendees. So happy to see familiar faces and eavesdrop to people babbling how much they love books.

Thank you National Bookstore for the free passes! Love you!
CTCinPH MIBF Leg was happening and I tried so hard to squeeze in myself just to wave hello to NBS peeps (thanks goodness Chad saw me!). Am so happy authors are being treated as rock stars here because as I've said in my previous post, they are legit the rock stars of lit! (You can also stalk their tweets about their experience here and I can say they're happy!) After that, I went to the cashier and was shocked to see the gorgeous tarp displays they put there! This one is my faves! So timely because I just reviewed Confess!

The lady was looking at me like I have boils on my face because I was taking photos of the cashier area instead of the booths/signing event! She's kind though and even assisted me there. I wanted to take this one home, though. (HELLO, CHAD. Am poking you! ;p ) And then I was supposed to meet up with Kai of Amaterasu Reads but damn, I couldn't go back in there anymore or I would seriously pass out so I headed home with these.

My bracelet pass from APCC and my MIBF haul for this year!
I was tempted to get The Heir because oh, that gorgeous cover. However, I was spoiled! HAHA! So I'll finish this one first and take it from there! So ready for the KCinPH book signing tomorrow!

Thank you so, SO much National Bookstore for the free passes and for hosting such wallet-killing but heart-warming events! Congrats to all publishers, artists, orgs and authors who participated this year!
TILL NEXT YEAR'S 37TH MIBF!

STACKING THE SHELVES (33): THE 34TH MIBF 2013 EDITION.

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews that showcases newly acquired books or goodies we bought, received or borrowed during the week.

BOUGHT: (Fullybooked, MIBF)
- The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
- Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
- The Faerie Ring (The Faerie Ring #1) by Kiki Hamilton
- Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
- Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth

So after my Book Signing impulsive buying, the next day I went to MIBF. It was kind of our LOCAL version of BEA/ALA. The books I bought were all 20% off. I actually had a list with me but it was useless the moment I entered the fair. The only title I was able to buy from my list was Obsidian and mind you, it was the LAST copy. So I think, it was meant to be. Also, I saw the LAST copy of Insurgent's Collector's Edition so again, you know, meant to happen. HAHAHA! This haul was supposed to be all paperback, but Insurgent was just laying around and it called me! HAHAHAHA!

Here are some pictures from the fair! (and here's my post for last year's!)
Clockwise: Me, Dianne, Eunice and Lois!
Clockwise: This year's paperback from Fullybooked; and Publishers at NBS' booth!
My second year at MIBF with Fullybooked!
AS A RESULT OF THESE NON-STOP IMPULSIVE BUYING, BOOK BUYING BAN WILL COMMENCE TILL DECEMBER! WISH ME LUCK!
What did you get this week, Blurbies! Enjoy your weekend!

MANILA INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR 2012.

Where all other bookish explosions, shenanigans and fun stuff happen!
The 33rd Manila International Book Fair is a yearly event that showcases exhibitors nationwide to promote reading and books from local authors and publishers. Book enthusiasts all over the country gather to show support to our exhibitors, to meet fellow book lovers and to enjoy discounted books and freebies being given away. The event houses different book genres to cater everybody's needs and there's also a program for everyone who's interested to watch/learn. This is my first time participating in such events and I've never seen so much books in my life, from religious to text books to novels! And it will be from September 12-16!

Gorgeous free bookmark passes I got from FullyBooked Mall of Asia branch!
At SMX lobby.
I was a bit disoriented because I wasn't really feeling well and was completely overwhelmed by those hundreds of booths around me. And here are some of the exibitors:

FullyBooked
NBS
Roaming around these exhibits made my unwell feelings aggravated so I stayed at Fullybooked's then made a lot of thinking on what books to get because as you all know, I should still be on a book buying ban but since my birthday is coming up soon, I put it aside for the mean time.

My purchases from FullyBooked came with a nice shopping bag!
And after 30 minutes or so of debating with myself, here are my hauls from the event:
Book hauls from FullyBooked
🔼 Fire (Graceling Realm #2) by Kristin Cashore
🔼 Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy #2) by Wendy Higgins
🔼 Hereafter (Hereafter #1) by Tara Hudson
🔼 Starcrossed (Starcrossed #1) by Josephine Angelini
So there's my awesome first MIBF escapade! I sure did have a lot of fun and as early as now, I would be saving for the 34th MIBF next year!

    Did you attend?
