Twilight is a phenomenon!
I've been re-reading my PDF copy of Twilight since 2008 so I've read it over I think 15x times already over the years. I've only read my paperback copy twice. Since I am blogging about books now, I thought it would be best to write up my long overdue review for it. I know, it will be forever biased on my side because Twilight is the culprit my I am into books now and as far as I could tell, I have never been ashamed that I loved it to bit nor I am such a huge fan.
Bella's mom remarried and she cannot afford to move around a lot. She decided to move in with her father Charlie in Forks, Washington. She will definitely miss sunny Arizona and she doesn't know how she will cope with rainy Forks. Good thing her childhood friend Jacob still remembers her. However, when she sees the Cullens at school, she is immediately curious about this family and their inhuman beauty. Especially Edward Cullen. The dazzling Edward Cullen.
Well, I am a thousand percent in love with this novel. I will never be ashamed (I know a lot of people hated this) and will always be a huge fan of Meyer and the Saga. If I remember correctly, the thing that made me delve into this when I first read it years back was the premise. It was my first vampire novel (sorry Vampire Academy, I will have to get my grabby hands on you soon) and it was such a light read completed with swoony romance. I remember wishing I was Bella Swan over and over so I could be turned a vampire. It ignited my dormant love for reading and I promised myself that I will never stop anymore. The world building was so simple yet full of mysteries and action. Who wouldn't fall in love with Forks and the Reservation? It was an example that no matter where you are in the world, simple and content life can be attained. I loved how vivid Meyer explained the high school, Swan's residence, the Tribe, the Cullens.. everything was so easy to picture out and somewhere at some point, I CAN TOTALLY RELATE TO IT. Well, not the vampire part but the simplicity of the livelihood they have. The fun fact that one's destiny can be changed by merely deciding to move with your dad. I loved the twists (THE FIGHT SCENE WITH JAMES OMG), the retelling of Vampire slash Werewolves myth, the oh so sweet romance and the history compiled all together into this one awesome novel. Most specifically, I totally dig how easy it was to read from the POVs..
The characters are all fantastic. Jacob for example. He's very straight to the point and a little sarcastic which made his character *at first* hilarious! Then we have the Cullens. Aren't they just perfect? I loved them all! Emmett was the hunk Vampire with an easy attitude, Rosalie was the prettiest yet she's got hang ups, Jasper was the newest member so he was a little harder to control yet I loved his gift, Alice who is my favorite, she's very friendly, sweet and loving! Though she goes a little overboard with fashion, her character gave so much life to the story and without her and her gift, I actually can't picture out what will happen next. Esme's also a very loving foster mother and I hope all mothers would be as selfless as her and I think Carlisle was the perfect match for her. Edward on the other hand, used to be my ONLY fictional boyfriend because of his good intentions and mesmerizing smirk! My brain is always, I mean ALWAYS associating Volvo to Edward and believe when I say that whenever I stumble upon one, I can hear myself murmur, "Edward?". He's not only good looking but intelligent and good-hearted. And even though Bella can be sometimes slow and irrational, I loved her nonetheless.
Twilight resurrected this long forgotten love for reading! It is mysterious, fun, romantic and simple novel that completely captured my heart right at its first chapter! I haven't tired yet of re-reading this novel now and I would forever be indebted to this for making me this kind of reader I am today: voracious!
