Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no memories of her past life, she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. But everything changes when she tries to rescue a boy from drowning in the river. Because even though she can't do anything to help, Amelia somehow "wills" him to survive. And when he wakes up, Joshua can see her.

Together, Joshua and Amelia begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death, and the secrets of the dark river that has held her captive. But even as they grow ever closer, there are those in both worlds--the living and the dead--determined to tear them apart.

PURCHASE THE BOOK HERE:

Amelia is an eighteen-year-old spirit wandering around the bridge where she died. She doesn't remember anything about her life aside from her name. No one can hear or see her until she tries to rescue Joshua from drowning in the same river that took her life. She is sure he saw her.

The fact that the story is narrated by Amelia, which is a ghost is very compelling. It is far from what I've grown used to. With its alluring cover and one of a kind synopsis, one could be easily be drawn to it.

Hereafter at some part could actually stand on its own and it that didn't make me that scared which I like. I never expected that a ghost story would be this thrilling but I know that it haven't reached its full potential yet. Or it might have been better. The story started with so much promise but when the twists started to happen, it went all over the place. Surviving a terrible accident and dying for a couple of seconds/minutes should not be out of the hospital after two days and that's one of the parts I didn't agree on. I also don't understand what does Eli really want because most of the time, he appears undecided whether to be with Amelia or not plus some of his explanations doesn't really make sense for me. Lastly, there were times when Amelia felt like she's going to be alive again when she's with Joshua. I just didn't buy it.

Hereafter is such a refreshing story. I may have felt a little disappointed with some of things that have occurred but sure enough, those wouldn't stop me from liking it. All am wishing is Arise to be better than this. I would have never imagined a ghostly romance this awesome.

"Not the kind of unconsciousness that torments the dead, but the kind that kills the living."
